The Kgalagadi offers interesting photo opportunities, this is where the desert and bush veld overlap. The dry sand veld and thunder clouds. Pink clouds as the sand reflects upward, rainbows with a desert backdrop. Also hardened animals and a large community of carnivores.

Kgalagadi & southern Namibia

The Kgalagadi is special! One of my favourite spots for a getaway. A bit expensive but we sleep in the parks, drive exclusive routes and have a great celebratory meal all included.

This tour I keep small and exclusive, first come first served.

It has a few seasons and my favourite is just as the rainy season ends. The butterflies are out, the veld is green and the area is showing its true colours.

This is one of the most un spoilt areas on the planet.

A few bush camps, bush showers, this is the life. It is not a difficult tour and I will give you proper preparation for it.

We visit the Mabuasehube area for a few days, as well as Nossob and Mata Mata. This must be on your bucket list as it is absolutely supreme. Then to make it extra special, we cross to Southern Namibia. We visit the breathtaking Sossus vlei in the Namib and go for a spectacular Buffet dinner. From there we hug the Namib down to Aus and Luderitz. Further down to the Fish river cannyon and Ai Ais. This will take your breath away.

Namibia is that place where the bushveld meets the desert. The landscape is spectacular. It also means great sunsets and sinrises due to the desert dust.

Then off course the duneveld and Atlantic ocean. The natural wonder at Brandberg.

The historical Swakkopmund and Walvisbaai.

Riverbeds and desert animals.

Kaokoland Damaraland Namibia

Namibia is one of those destinations where it is difficult to say why it is a must do. The reason is that it is just one of those magical places.

Just when you don’t expect it there are elephants and lions, Oryx and Giraph.

The landscape is from a different planet, the un spoilt nature is still un spoilt.

The tour requires a bit of off road driving, and then rewards you with the most spectacular landscape scenery you have ever seen.

We only stay in recognised campsites, no bushcamping.

We have a few days of relaxing.

We drive the Kunene river, visit Etosha, negotiate van Zyls pass, Marienfluss, the famous rivers around Phuros and Sesfontein. Truly a magical two weeks.

Join us on this spectacular tour and do a few things you might not have done before.

You don’t need any experience as a 4x4 driver and you only need a basic 4x4 with low  range. Nothing fancy.

The Serengeti is the only place where I have seen Lions in trees with regularity. I have also seen 7 leopard in 4 trees in 2 hours. Bring your 300mm + lens for the lions. Bring your wide angle to capture the herds of migrating wildebeest. Bring your aim and shoot for our Zanzibar experience.

The great east African tour Serengeti, Malawi, Zanzibar

If your bucket list includes Serengeti, this tour will tick that box and offer you much more than Serengeti. It is such a great event that I changed the name to do the tour justice. It is really a great east African experience. This will be a month of your life that you will never forget.

You will see and experiencing something unique. We tour up in to the heart of east Africa. Some of the places you would recognise includes Victoria  falls, Lake Victoria, mount Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar island, Ngorogoro crater, Lake Malawi, Mana pools, Lusaka, Dar es Salaam.

At the heart of the tour we will catch the Wildebeest migration in the Grumeti area. We will visit the craft shops of the Masai. The spice tour of the historical Zanzibar Island.

This is a tour that every person must do at some stage. It is absolutely spectacular, and worth every cent. Visit the tour page to see more.

Lesotho lodge snow tour

Living on the southern tip of Africa is one of the blessings in life. We have a wonderful landscape and great weather but unfortunately this means snow is in short supply.

The Bluerhino Safaris Lesotho winter tour is specifically made to experience another side of life.

We travel to the part in our region that has annual snowfalls. These annual snowfalls coupled with the summer rainfall in the region makes Lesotho the perfect place to gather water for the supply of Gauteng. Our journey takes us from the lowlands and the Basotho Battlefields  all the way to the snow capped mountains where the ski resorts reside. So you may pack your winter woolies, and come and enjoy this experience with me.

This is a lodge based tour and we stay in Lodge accommodation for the 4 nights. We eat some of the best meals available in Lesotho in the local lodge restaurants.

Driving through the landscape is what makes this so special. Your wide angle lens will be working overtime to capture the breathtaking scenery. The sunsets are spectacular.

There are times when you have to stop and think where you are, as it feels like you are on a different planet.

Richtersveld & West Coast

For the last 25 years I have been driving past the sign that says Richtersveld. I have been to see the blommetjies with friends, I have visited Trans Hex Baken mine at the gate of the Richtersveld, but I have never gone in.

So I have guests asking about a tour in that regeon and I decided to “check it out”, and ooo hooo.

Driving past Pofadder you see the hills in the distance, but it is only when you turn off and in to those hills that you see the magic of the area.

We start our journey in Kakemas, we visit the Augrabies falls. Then on to Klein Pella, and we hug the Orange river as far as possible. In to the Richtersveld and then down the west coast where we end just short of Cape town. Thus not a problem should you want to extend your tour and spend a few days in the mother city or do a few wine tours etc.

The tour is towards the end of the blommetjies so we will see a bit of that magic as well.

Join me for this exciting, breathtaking tour of one of our world heritage sites.

This tour is going to test your skills as a photographer. We will have bush drives, wildlife, animals close and animals far, sunsets and sunrises, from hides and from vehicles, o ja, and from the air….

This is a photographers dream.

Trans Botswana Vic Falls Hwange

This remains one of the most popular tours on the calendar. The landscape the animals and the history. We travel on the same routes as the great explorers. We discover what they were looking for and what they found. How does this all fit together.

To unravel this puzzle we start our journey in the south of Botswana. We visit Khama Rhino Sanctuary, the biggest rhino concentration in Botswana, then on to Maun and on to the Okavango Delta. We spend some time in the bush having picnics next to the river, private game drives in the concession area and visit the Moremi. We drive across the legendary bridges and stop for picnic lunches in the bush.

From there North through the Savuti and on the Kasane for a couple of days. We visit Chobe National park  and then cross in to Zimbabwe. We sleep in Vic falls for a night giving you the opportunity to see what this is all about. From there down to Hwange National park to some of the best camp sites in our region. These ones voted in the top three by guests.

Join me for an unforgettable tour.

You might want to bring your long lens for this one. The wide open plains and bright light makes your long lens very usefull. We will have bush drives, wildlife, animals close and animals far, sunsets and sunrises, the best you have seen.

Central Kalahari & Khutse

If you ever wanted to be out in the bush and experience the peace and quiet that nature provide, this is the one.

Couple this with wilderness campsites and unique un spoilt semi desert bushveld, and you have one of those trips that I am excited about a year in advance.

It is not difficult driving, the camping is also easy, so you have no excuse not to join this tour.

Most people have reservations about it being wilderness camps, but I promise you this is the best. My wife is a city girl, always with a hair dryer, and even she says this type of camping is her favourite. It is just different.

We camp only in recognised camp sites, so no bush camping.

The park is known for its predators. Being a semi desert area we will find Gemsbok, Ostrich, Springbok and many other.

This is where you reconnect with the African night sky, watching the camp fire flicker and hearing the soft heartbeat of the real Africa.

We spend the whole tour in the park and thus the tour size is limited and it makes it a bit pricey, but it is one of those experiences you will never forget.

Liuwa is one of those destinations that should be on your bucket list.

It is the second largest wildebeest migration in the world. The summer birds are spectacular and the experience just great.

There are times when you have to stop and think where you are.

Liuwa plains Zambia

I skipped this tour in 2016 due to the severe drought we had. But with good rain in our summer, I decided to run this tour in 2017. I am also going a bit later in the year to ensure the best summer bird experience and the best chance to see the biggest number of wildebeest.

So if you want to do something just before Xmas, this is the one.

We start our tour at Kasane in Botswana for our first night. Then through Katima Mulilo and in to Zambia. We travel and sleep next to the Zambezi. We visit the Ngonye falls upstream from Vic falls. We drive the sand road next to the Barotse plains and then in to the park.

4 nights in the park looking for Lady Liuwa, finding the wildebeest and spending time with the spectacular birdlife.

From there we exit and head back down to Kasane where our tour ends.

A combination of the southern Cape Indian ocean, Knysna forests mountain passes and Wildlife National parks. This tour offers the whole spectrum.

Truly one of the gems of South Africa. Our tour will take the form of an exploration to open the area for tourists. Come with and see what this area offers.

Passes and Parks Eastern Cape

We often focus our attention on the areas outside of our country and in the process miss out on what we have, what we know about and yet never visit.

This tour has at its heart this purpose, to visit some of those magical places that we read of and never visit.

I tried to combine the best aspects of the area in a short time to mimic a short break, easy to get to but yet great to use to relax and break away from daily life.

This would include great ocean camp sites, the old seven passes road between George and Knysna, Prince Alfred pass and Uniondale.

Driving and sleeping in the Baviaanskloof down to Jeffreysbay and up to Addo national park and the Bedrogfontein 4x4 trail. Finally ending the journey at the Mountain Zebra national park in Craddock.

You will note this tour is hot on the heals of my Richtersveld tour. So an easy way to get back to Joburg in six nights.
